The Chain Draped Goddess Harness

I know it's semi-normal to be obsessed with your own creations, but honestly.... I think I out-did myself on this one:

Measurements
-From collarbone to last draped chain: 14"
-16" neck space
-34" draped chain in back
-12" off draped chain detailing

It can be tough to find the perfect piece of statement jewelry to add to an ensemble, but we think you'll agree when we say this bold accessory really suits your amazing sense of style. The unique design and feminine rose chain actually creates a slimming effect through your torso for a sensational look that you can always rely on. Pair it with a black tank top, skinny jeans, and stilletos or drape it over a boring, t-shirt dress for a whole new look. Magnetic clasps behind the neck and behind the back make it a breeze to slip on and off. One size fits all.

Make a Flirty Summer Button Necklace!! {tutorial}

I am so excited for Summer!

Hopefully the warm weather will come to Utah sometime soon.

{It has been snowing here this week.}

In the meantime, I made a few Summer necklaces.

Here's the first:

Flirty Button Necklace

I love the white and turquoise color scheme.

It seems so beachy to me!!

If you want to make one here's what I did:

Supplies:

Cotton Fabric (I used a Dollar Store Flour Sack}

A couple other fabric scraps

Felt

Buttons

Covered Button Kit

Hot Glue Gun

Ribbon

Scrapbook Brads

Here's what I did:

  • I cut out a felt bib form -- about 5 inches wide by 3 inches high.

  • Then I made a couple fabric flowers. Nancy from My Blonde Ambitions has a great tutorial on how to make these.

  • Once I made the fabric flowers. I laid the flowers, buttons and brads on the felt template until I liked the way it looked. Then I glued the flowers, buttons and brads on the felt.

  • The last thing I did was glue two pieces of ribbon onto the back of the felt half circle.

Super easy!

And I love the flirty look of the necklace.

Perfect for Summer

And, if you want more great necklace ideas, head over to Ucreate for more fantastic button necklaces and Becca from Blue Cricket Designs just made a really cute Button Necklace too.

Guest Post -- make a Nautical, Anthro-inspired Necklace!! {tutorial}

 Hi, I'm Nina from Momma
Go Round
, and I'm SO excited to be here today with Jen!

Momma Go Round

Since day one of my blogging adventure I've looked up to Jen, so it's a real
honor to be on TT&J!

Momma Go Round is
all about the miracles, milestones, and meltdowns of
motherhood.
I love to figure out my style in my series Real
Momma, Real Style
, share crazy tales of life with a 2 year old, my
weight loss journey, recipes, things I love, and of course crafts!

Today I would like to share with you my latest Anthropologie
knock off inspired necklace!

Pleated Bead Necklace

Fabric - Large Round Beads - Scissors - Thread - Needle

Cut a strip down the length of your fabric that is twice as
wide as your beads. My beads were about 1/2 inch in diameter, so I cut
my strip 1 inch thick.

Iron your strip in
half.

Leaving a few
inches at the end, fold strip into two pleats and stitch through.
(My fabric was 42 inches, so I needed
to leave a tail to attach another strip to tie off the necklace. If
you are lucky enough to have a fabric from a longer bolt, you may want
to leave more of a tail for tie off)

Feed bead onto needle and stitch through.

Add two more
pleats to the other end of the bead and stitch through. Then stitch
back through both sets of pleats and the bead.

Continue until you have desired number of beads. If you got
lucky and have long enough fabric, you could stop here by simply tying
off the ends. I was not so fortunate, so I had to add some
on.

I simply knotted on additional strips of fabric to the tails
of the beaded strip.

I LOVE my new Anthro necklace without the Anthro price tag!
Perfect for dressing up a "getting stuff done today" outfit
:)

Thank you so much
for having me today Jen!

Guest Project -- Anthropologie-inspired Bib Necklace!!

I think I'll spare you all the mushy details about the admiration, respect and general happy feelings I have towards Jen and the fabulous TT&J blog.  She is basically pure awesome {but you all know that}, so I'll skip to the real reason I am here today...

To teach you how to make this super duper, crazy easy, Anthropologie inspired, lace and pearl bib necklace.

And this is me, Little Miss Momma {aka Ashley}, wearing said necklace and taking photos of myself through the bathroom mirror {I kinda do that a lot}.

I have a little blog where I like to write about my life lessons as a Momma-in-training {with some occasional crafting during nap time}.

And now, lets make a necklace together:

Here's what you need:

Beige felt {about a square foot}

Pretty Trimming/Lace

Necklace chain {mine is 24 inches, but 18 works well too}

Pearls or other embellishments

Glue gun

First, cut out three felt circles in the size you want your lace flowers.

Cut one circle larger than the others--this will be the middle flower.

Apply a circle of hot glue around the border of one of the felt circles.

Apply the edge of the lace to the the glue.

Continue this process until you have glued down the lace spiraled all the way to the center. Cut the extra lace and glue down the end.

Glue down your pearl embellishments into the center of your flowers.

Now, lay out the flowers on top of the felt in the shape of your necklace.

Glue down the middle flower first.

Next, we get the chain ready.

Here is the chain I ended up using {not the same as the one in the supplies picture}.

Cut the necklace in half.

Apply hot glue to the back of the flower and lay about 3/4 inch of the chain in the glue.

Repeat the same step with the other chain piece.

Now turn over the flowers and glue them into place on either side of the center flower. Lastly, trim the remaining felt from around the flowers.

And that's it!

Here is another necklace I made using a similar tutorial {click here}.

Happy Crafting!

xoxo,

-ashley
