How to Stay Focused while working from Home

It's so hard to get distracted when you work from home. Bills, kids, lunch, cleaning, and everything else that keeps your house not-relaxing gets in the way and before you know it your entire day is over and you haven't completed anything that you thought you would. Don't be hard on yourself because everyone goes through it but it's going to take a lot of discipline to make your company succeed. If you never spend time on it, chances are it's not going anywhere.

For me, I have a 13 month old baby, a husband, school, and a needy dog so it's hard to spend quality time with all of them every day and still make time for my business.

So far these are my suggestions:

1. Make a short to-do list before you got to bed at night- go over it before you go to sleep and set out a schedule for when you are going to get those tasks completed. Don't put to much on your list. I try and stick with 4 or fewer things, but it's up to you.
2. If you have kids, wake up early- the best productive time for me is first thing in the morning while everyone is still asleep and there are no distractions. If your kids wake up at 8, get up at 6 and put a good dent in your daily goals, that way yo arer more relaxed throughout the day because you don't feel rushed to complete all these extra things.
3. Have a clean studio/ office- have a workplace your happy to be in, not one you regret going to every day. Make it organized however you like, hang plants and artwork that inspires you.
4. Make a dream board and hang it in your studio- a dream board can be almost anything, people make them out of catalog images that inspire them or paint a scene of abundance, or even list out what their goals and asspirations are. Having them visible on a regular basis helps keep you focused and optimistic.
5. Schedule time for a day off- If your working 7 days a week because you "haven't been productive earlier" you'll only burn yourself out. If you schedule your time right earlier in the week you'll be on top of your sechule and be able to take a day or a weekend for you and your family. I turn into a work-a-holic at home and am either always on the computer or in the studio so it's hard to take the much-needed time off.
