I have a bench that has been sitting neglected in my garden for a couple of years -- poor bench. It really needed a makeover.
The first thing that I did was sand off the peeling paint. {I thought this would take a few minutes, but really it took about an hour or so}.
PS -- don't wear white while sanding old black paint - lol :)
After I had it sanded, I used Ivory Krylon's new Dual Paint + Primer Spray Paint. I liked the idea of a spray paint that is both a primer AND paint in one.
It comes in many different colors.
I decided to go with Ivory for the undercoat and Sun Yellow for the stripes.
Do you have a spray paint grip tool? If not, you need one! It makes spray painting so much more comfortable. You have more control over the stream and the overspray does not get all over your fingers and hands. I think this tool is genius. Mine is by Rustoleum, but Krylon makes one too -- Krylon Snap and Spray. They range from $3 to $6 and are one of my favorite tools!! I got mine for Christmas, can you tell how much I use it - hahaha!!
Once the bench was painted and dry, I taped off the bench, exposing the strips that were going to be YELLOW.
Then I got to the pretty yellow paint. One thing I noticed was that the yellow paint seemed to cover more than the Ivory did. But that might have been because I had already painted underneath the yellow with the ivory.
I love the pretty POP of yellow color!!
I took the tape off -- and voila -- I have a brand new looking bench. Yay.
It looks so happy sitting in my garden
{I swear I will get out there and weed one of these days}.
So overall I am really happy with Krylon's new Dual Paint + Primer. The paint stayed on my bench even underneath all of that tape. I liked that you don't have to use separate paint and primer with this product, although the Ivory did take quite a few coats to cover.
