I started watching her as a teenager, she was entertaining and a role model for aspiring chefs as well as American homemakers who made her book Mastering the Art of French Cooking a best seller.
We saw her on the street in NYC once, walking with her husband in the early 1980's. She was very recognizable as she towered over him. Today would be her 100th birthday.
