A short walk from South Kensington Tube station in London, you will find the art nouveau styled
Michelin House which is 100 years old this year. Completed in 1911, it was designed by a Michelin employee, Francoise Espinasse. It served as a central London tyre fitting bay until 1985, after which it was sold to Sir Terence Conran and Paul Hamlyn for 8 million pounds. The building today houses the Bidendum Restaurant & Oyster bar with its beautiful tiled walls, glass stained windows featuring a cigar-smoking Bidendum (a.k.a The Michelin man) and mosaic mural detail.
