How to make a Woven Magazine Purse

I just made my first woven magazine clutch! It looks so great I'm excited to list it on etsy. I added a wristlet handel and lined it with a zipper closure so it can double as a coin purse. Don't worry, it'lll be on etsy tonight.

The instructions are really hard to find for these bags. I searched for days until I found this one. They go over everything start to finish and you don't have to buy any instructions.

Mine is made with a Salt Lake City Map and a Davis County Map so just in case you ever get lost in this area you can always look down and see a scrambled map right there on your clutch! It's just big enough to hold a cell phone, a lipstick, and a couple cards... so perfect for a night out. I've got more details on mine here. Making the clutch took over four hours so it's no wonder they go for so much as farmer's markets. Take your time, have fun, and listen to some great music while you do it and don't get frustrated!

I actually doubled the size of each individual piece so my purse I'm working on now will have bigger, bolder, weaves and will be about four times the size of my clutch. I'll post pictures as they come up.

Rocky Horror Picture Show Culture

It's not often you find yourself sitting with a giant afro and bright red lipstick next to your cross-dressing husband throwing rice and toast at a movie screen and sitting dangerously close to a middle-age body-builder wearing a tutu and shouting "SLUT!" every time the main characters introduce themselves. But its also not often you find yourself cheering for the birthday girl on stage as she guesses what make the car keys are to that were just shoved up her butt.... and getting it right.

Yes there's definitely several things I have to admit happen at the Rocky Horror Picture Show that would never happen anywhere else that you have to just enjoy. Where else could my husband's friends go in public in gold shoes, gold booty shorts, and nothing else- oh wait.... there was a blond wig involved too.

But I've made a list of things you may see there if your a "virgin" just so you can be prepared:

1: old women flashing the stage if you cheer loud enough for them
2: Men in corsets- lots of them
3: shielding your head with newspaper as the men in corsets spray you with water guns
4: the entire theatre dancing to the time warp... knees together, feet apart, humping the air in circles
5: People in corsets and wheelchairs acting out the movie onstage just below the screen from the fights, to the dances, to the sex scenes.
6: Screaming "Asshole" and "Slut!" whenever the main character introduces themselves
7: Throwing toast, rice, cards, and other random objects in unison with the entire theatre
8: having all the "virgins" go up on stage to make idiots of themselves and moon the audience
9: Cheering for the guy in temple garmets as he gives some stranger an awkwardly stiff lap dance
10: singing "I'm just a Sweet Transvestite from Transexual, Transylvania." as loud as you can
11: cheering for the big, black guy in a yellow tutu and 12" heels chasing a scrawny guy in gold booty shorts up and down the rows of the theatre to poppy music.
12: Thinking cannibalism, massive amounts of sequins and top-hats, and breaking out in song is normal.
13: Posing on top of balconies in gold booty shorts so all the newbies can take pictures
14: Straight men in fishnets, wigs, bright red lipstick, and stripper heels WITH their wives still on their arm.
