"Summer Social" Guest Project -- Make Handmade Berrylicious Popsicles!!

Like all of you I'm a HUGE fan of
Jen's and SO impressed with how much that girl can do!! I've had the pleasure
of meeting Jen a few times, and let me tell you, she's every bit as sweet, if
not more, in person as she is on her blog.

I share a lot of stuff on my blog,
everything from my favorite recipes to my favorite household tips.
I like to share photography tips and blogging tips, crafting , being thrifty
and makeovers and a little bit of everything in between. I host a weekly
link up party on Fridays where you can share your great ideas, project or
anything you are loving, called I'm Lovin' It.

I thought since Jen was having a
summer soiree, and I loooove to bring food to a party.......what's a summer
time party with out popsicles?!

These berrylicous popsicles are so
easy, even the kids can join in on the fun!

What you will need:

Berry
Blue Popsicles

Ingredients

• 6 tablespoons berry blue gelatin

• 1 cup sugar, divided

• 2 cups boiling water, divided

• 2 cups cold water, divided

• 6 tablespoons strawberry gelatin

• 18 Popsicle molds or paper cups (3 ounces each) and
  Popsicle sticks

Directions

1. In a small bowl, dissolve berry blue gelatin powder and
   1/2 cup sugar in 1 cup boiling water. Stir in 1 cup cold water.


2. In another bowl, dissolve strawberry gelatin powder and
   remaining (1/2 cup) sugar in remaining (1 cup)boiling water. Stir in
   remaining (1 cup) cold water.


3. In a small bowl, combine half of the berry blue gelatin
   mixture and half of the strawberry gelatin mixture. (so you now have 3
   bowls of gelatin)


4. Place all 3 bowls in freezer for about 2 hours or until
   slushy.


5. In a large bowl, lightly swirl the three colors as
   desired.


6. Fill each mold or cup with 1/4 cup gelatin mixture; top
   with holders or insert sticks into cups. Freeze.

Yields: about 10-18 pops depending
on the size.

Summer Project -- Houndstooth Pedicures!!

With four girls in our household, we are into all of the glitz and frilliness that go along with being girly. One of our favorite parts of Summer are pedicures!! We love giving each other pedicures and inviting our friends over for them too!

When Beckie was out filming our webshow this weekend, she mentioned a new (to me) product -- nail polish strips. I immediately had to buy some to try with my girls. The brand that I tried was Sally Hansen Salon Effects. I love all of the different patterns and colors that are available in this line.

PLUS, they are so easy to apply. The strips stick to your nails and you don't even have to wait for them to dry. Genius!! Beckie said that hers had been on for two weeks and they still looked awesome!!

I bought the Houndstooth pattern, just my style! 

So yesterday Ella and I experimented with them. This is what we did:

1. Make sure your nails are clean and dry.




2. Hold the stips up to your nails and decide which size will work best.

3. Peel off the clear plastic coating, and then the white backing.




4. Place the strip right up next to the cuticle of your nail and then stretch it slightly so it really grabs the nail. Then trim the excess.

5. Do this to all the nails. Then come back and use the pink nail file (which is provided) and Shape the strips to fit the nail exactly.

And you are done!! 

In 15 minutes I had a pedicure that didn't have to dry. And it has a really cool pattern too!

"Summer Social" Guest Project -- Make a Summertime Activity Caddy!! {tutorial}

I'm Myra and I blog over at My Blessed Life where I share diy crafts and home decor, seasonal projects, recipes and more to inspire you to creatively thrive in your home. I just love Jen and I'm thrilled to be guest posting for her today!

My two year old and I spend a lot of time outside playing with bubbles, chalk and little toys that seem to get scattered here, there and everywhere. Ahem. So, I created a Kids' Activity Caddy to keep all of his little toys organized. Oh, how I love organization!

Kids' Activity Caddy

This project can be customized with your favorite colors and labels for whatever you need to organize!

Supplies Needed:

• 3 clean tin cans {spaghetti sauce cans work well}


• Spray paint - red, yellow, blue


• Ruler


• Hot glue & glue gun


• 9001 glue


• Scrapbook paper and cardstock


• Ribbon


• Jute twine


• Scissors


• Sharpie

Don't stress over getting all the sticky stuff off because it will be hidden.

Rustoleum's Summer Squash, Krylon's Cherry Red and Rustoleum's Lagoon spray paint.

Aren't the colors so much fun?!

1. Spray paint residue and sharp edges aren't cool.

2. Measure the height of the can and cut scrapbook paper approximately 5 1/5 inches wide to line each can.

3. Use hot glue to secure the scrapbook paper.

Next, hot glue a 2" band of paper on the outside of each can.

Hot glue ribbon on the top inside edge of each can.

Next is the fun part of gluing all the cans together! :)

Place the cans in a triangular shape and mark where they meet each other. Then use 9001 glue to stick them together.

If the cans don't meet flush together, don't freak out. I've got your back!

Tie the cans together with a few pieces of jute twine. Easy peasy.

I told you not to panic!

Gather bubbles, chalk, toys or whatever suits your kids' fancy.

To finish off this project, add labels to each can. Use a Silhouette machine or scissors to cut out circles from scrapbook paper and card stock. Write whatever you want on your labels and hot glue them in place.

This simple organization project has made it much easier to keep Ridley's little outdoor toys all in one place!

Enjoy more peace this summer and less searching for toys with a Kids' Activity Caddy!
