CW&T Studio

CW&T is a Brooklyn based multi-disciplinary studio designing everything from lighting, to iPhone apps and jewelry. Some of their projects seem experimental and still in prototype stage, but none the less, great thinkers. Here are three of their projects I like:

Circle hook light
An elegant design, the Circle Hook Light is designed for a standard fluorescent FC16T9 bulb. Instead of using a switch to turn the light on and off, the bulb is hooked in and unhooked and rotated to turn off. The solid brass polished hook looks more like a coat hanger on it's own, but with the revealed circular bulb forms part of a sculptural wall piece. The only thing that comes to my mind is how one would turn the light off if it's been on for a while, because they can get pretty hot! Are gloves supplied?

OBK
One Brass Knuckle, or OBK, is a nuckle duster ring which comes in stainless steel, gunmetal black or gold finish. Despite just being an interesting piece of jewelry, functional too according to their promo clip of a girl beating a steak. Nice shape!

Oblik

I hate Barbie. That bitch has everything!

With 3 Barbies sold every second in over 150 countries, it's no wonder the busty blonde is still a popular iconic symbol despite being launched back in 1959. Designer Margaux Lange has dismembered the doll an d used the parts to make kinda creepy, yet  quirky accessories. The more abstract pieces are neat, but once you recognize what it is, for me, it's just a bit too 'voodoo'. I do like the less recognizable pieces that use repetition (boobs, arms, eyes, etc.).

Fleathers and Rabid Foxes.

Linda Smyth is a jewelry designer based in Philadelphia. She has a little shop on Etsy where she sells her creations, consisting of two ranges, as well as owning a little vintage and handmade store in Old Town, Philly. Her Fleathers collection is a range of accessories inspired by birds, combining feathers and leather, taking on abstract shapes.

Rabid Fox, which is a range co-designed with Rebecca Pulver, is Alice-in-wonderland-ish rings, again inspired by nature and the animal kingdom, made from precious metals. Elephants, pigeons, unicorns and octopus's to adorn your digits are my kind of thing!
My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, I'm between getting a pair of Nike Flytops from 180g in colour #26 (Salmon pink - and my age to be) or a black Octopus ring (although admittedly, this is out of my budget).
