Seasonal picnic plates

These silicon picnic plates are not only a neat idea, but actually look beautiful too! Called 'Seasons' they have been designed by Nao Tamura for Covo. “Seasons” is an interpretation of functional kitchen and serving ware, inspired by nature and technology, through the cultural lens of Japan.

Like a real leaf, each serving dish is flexible and multi-purpose. It rolls up for storage using the benefits of silicone to insure its use in an oven or microwave, able to withstand repeated dishwasher cleaning.

Wood Casting

Looking though Yatzer's Best of Milan Design Week 2012 selection,  a few products caught my eye (mostly natural material funnily enough).  One of which was Hilla Shamia's Wood casting benches and stools, which combines aluminium and wood in squared minimal shapes, but keeps the memory of the wood. It's a cold-meets-warm material, natural vs. man made which really adds to the aesthetic of the furniture. The wood also get slightly burnt during the casting with the hot melted aluminium. I want!

Folding furniture has always been handy for picnics, the beach, camping and now, for home and office. Especially when it's well designed and the form is just as important as the function. Innovative materials and technology has allowed designers to expand their imagination.

Minimalism by Antrepro

An interesting self-initiated project by multi-disciplinary studio Antrepo, where they strip away all the clutter of household products and leave only what is truly necessary. The results are strangely upmarket with only one or two colour palettes, with emphasis on the product's shape and packaging material. If only companies were brave enough to let their product do the talking and less 'supermarket-like' packaging. This would really separate product on a shelf where everything is overly colourful and covered in graphics.

Tree coat stand

The Tree Coat Stand is designed by Cyprus based duo Brian Ward and Constantinos Economides, WeDid-ID. Based on the concept of how people interact with their natural surroundings - hanging clothes on a tree - a natural hanger.

Super neat and tidy puzzle chopping boards by OOOMS - Dutch design studio, available here. Also makes for a nice serving platter with wine glass holder.

D-Bros products

D-Bros is a Japanese design group (?) with a range of rather sweet products. Their most popular product, which you may remember, is Kudamemo fruit notepads, apple and pear. I also specifically like their Tell Tail note book, where the ribbon (or in this case - tassel) mimics the taile of the horse and pony print in the centre of the books. Other products include paper wall clocks and mirrored cups reflecting graphics on saucers.
